All members are required to submit a character bio and a writing sample in the "Character Bios, Employment Records, & Job Applications" board. Once you have decided on the type of character you wish to RP, you should fill out a bio in the area that describes the type of person you will be.
For example:
"Henrietta Green" is a Acad student and you want her to be in Anza house. You click on the Sub-board called "Acad Applications (Students, Staff, Prefects, Quidditch Captains)" and open the thread titled "Use This Format In Your Bio". Copy the bio format into a reply post and fill it out with as much detail as you can manage, complete the short writing sample and post it. Now it is up to the admin staff to approve the information in your profile and add you to the house and year you choose. (Please note: we are only RPing students in years 1, 2, 6 & 7 at this board currently.)
Once you are approved, your post will be made into a separate thread where you can update it as needed. You will be added into a usergroup (Anza 6th year) and this will allow you to see the hidden Common Room board.
Other types of characters will do similar bios in other threads and may apply for jobs. Members may also apply to be canon characters from the list of Available Canons so long as they remain true to the character and are approved. (Some of the more popular characters may require a more extensive bio/application process.)
Once you have registered, you will need to choose what kind of character you want to RP. You can do this several ways. You may browse the boards for each type of character (Death Eaters; Order Members; Acad Staff & Students; Shopkeepers; etc..).
In each board, you will find a complete list of students, staff, or members of that particular group. Job openings will be noted on the list also. As canon positions are filled they will be removed from the available list. If you want to be a character who you do not see on any lists (there are some such as Doris Crockford and others we know little about) you can submit a bio in the board you have chosen for them. [Ex: You want to RP as Gladys Gudgeon and you want her to be a nurse at St. Mungo's. Go to the board for 'Other Employment' and fill out a bio there.]
Now that you have a basic idea of how this works, choose your character by profession and go to the board for further details. Once you have been accepted your bio will be separated into a new thread in that board. Your Character Name, profession and any identifying group name that applies will be the threads title. You will also notice that your posts and profile will have your new group affiliation listed. Once accepted you may begin posting in the RP.
